Aimee Bobko, MD

Dr. Bobko is a fellowship-trained orthopaedic surgeon specializing in Shoulder & Elbow Surgery. The shoulder and elbow joints offer the largest and most complex range of motion within the human body. If either your shoulder or elbow stop functioning normally, it can prevent you from participating in sports or work. If more severely affected, activities such as combing your hair, getting dressed, cooking, or sleeping can become difficult. Dr. Bobko focuses on restoring mobility with compassionate care and shared decision making with her patients. She pursues medically proven nonoperative treatments and operative options when necessary that include the latest medical technology and techniques to provide the best possible outcome.

Dr. Bobko is a native to the Chicago southwest suburbs, growing up in Tinley Park, IL and attending Victor J. Andrew High School. She completed her undergraduate degree in Bioengineering with a concentration in Cell & Tissue Engineering at University of Illinois at Chicago, graduating magna cum laude. She then completed medical school at the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Medicine, graduating with honors. Dr. Bobko completed her Orthopaedic Surgery residency training at the University of Illinois at Chicago where she was named the program’s first female Chief Resident. During residency, she received the UIC Department of Orthopedics Clinical Excellence Award, UIC Department of Orthopedics Senior Thesis Day Best Research Award, and named a member of the AOA Emerging Leaders Program.

Following residency, Dr. Bobko pursued advanced Shoulder & Elbow fellowship training at the #1 ranked hospital in the US for orthopedics, the Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS). There, she refined her skills in comprehensive care for shoulder & elbow conditions including minimally invasive shoulder arthroscopy, bone preserving shoulder replacement, revision shoulder & elbow surgery, shoulder & elbow trauma, and elbow ligament repair & reconstruction including Tommy John surgery. Dr. Bobko’s mentors at HSS included thought leaders within the Shoulder & Elbow field as well as the team physicians for the New York Giants, New York Mets, and New York Rangers from whom she learned cutting edge techniques. Dr. Bobko has also continued to be active in research, utilizing her engineering background to complete projects on rotator cuff repair, shoulder tendon transfers, and patient outcomes after shoulder replacement surgery.
